Many of us seek to rise to higher states. We seek to heal the past, so we can be free to step into our full authentic self, realize our maximum potential and fulfill our life’s purpose. It is probably the longest and hardest journey to be traveled, yet there is none more rewarding. It is the path from our head and our mind to our heart and our Soul. It is the process of releasing and transmuting all fears and emotions into states of empowerment and wisdom, and of remembering our true integral self, so that we can live in oneness and be the alchemist of love.

Starting on this journey can be very challenging as it is usually an uncharted territory. As with any good captain departing for a destination, it is usually best to know where we are, where we are going, what the landscape in between looks like, and have the tools, skills, knowledge and support to consciously map and guide our journey, so we can get there in a safe, quick and gratifying manner.

Throughout this journey, William Ernest Henley’s words from his Invictus poem, even though written for a physical disease, will ring true at every turn in this inner journey:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

With an “unconquerable soul” and head unbowed, the journey requires that we are unafraid and at all times remain the master of our fate and the captain of our soul. No one can or will lead this journey for us. Only us and us alone can do it. It is our own personal journey after all.

We may consciously engage teachers and facilitators along the way and life may present others for a brief moment’s lesson, but it will always fall back on us to be vigilant, observant and discerning, so we can lead ourselves and transmute what holds us back into wisdom and empowerment.

It is through this process of transmutation that we become the alchemist of love and are eventually able to freely and proactively co-create the state that we want to be in. The process requires will, commitment, drive, determination and deep inner work, a journey to get to know our Soul and discover the beauty, oneness and connection to the divine that is innate in all of us.

It is not about the mind or mindfulness, it is about soul and soulfulness and our integral self, the spirit, soul, mind, body ecosystem and the interconnection of our parts. It is not about just visualizing higher states, but actually walking through the lower states, the fears and the shadows that we many times dare not face or talk about, and transmuting them to higher states in order to reclaim our inner peace, beauty, grace and full power and live our life’s purpose.

It may sound challenging, impossible or scary. Some may even feel that they do not deserve or could never attain states of self-actualization, empowerment, peace, love, beauty and grace. I can assure you, that with your uncompromising will, commitment, drive and determination, and with the proper facilitator and guidance, it is easier than you can ever imagine.
